Must See #8 Jerusalem
Jerusalem
One of the oldest
cities in the world, Jerusalem is located on a plateau in the Judaean Mountains
between the Mediterranean and the Dead Sea. Jerusalem is the religious and
historical epicenter of the world considered holy to three major religions of
the world—Judaism, Islam, and Christianity. The surreal and vibrant city has a
spiritual aura that connects you to history like no other place.
Sites to visit:
Temple Mount/Haram Al-Sharif
A walled compound
within the Old City of Jerusalem is the site of two magnificent structures: The
Dome of the Rock to the north and the Al-Aqsa Mosque to the south. In the southwest
stands the Western Wall—a remnant of the Second Temple and the holiest site in Judaism. The wall is a place of prayer and pilgrimage sacred to the Jewish people.

Dome of the Rock |
The site where Jews believe Abraham prepared to sacrifice Isaac, and Muslims
believe the Prophet Muhammad began his ascent to heaven, the Dome of the Rock is
one of the greatest of Muslim monuments.
The
Temple Mount holds significance for Christians as the place where Jesus issued
his challenge against the Temple authorities, an act which can be seen as
leading directly to his arrest and crucifixion. The Temple Mount also
holds significance for Christians as the place where Jesus attended festivals
as a child. The Temple steps, which endure even to this day, were almost
undoubtedly trodden by Jesus and his disciples.
Church of the Holy Sepulchre
A historic church within the Christian Quarter of the walled
Old City of Jerusalem. The site is venerated as Golgotha (the Hill of Calvary),
where Jesus was crucified, and is said also to contain the place where Jesus
was buried (the Sepulchre) and rose from the dead.
